INEVA establishes the largest plant of Turkey producing electrical energy from industrial sludge. As a result of the agreement made with Gaziantep OIZ, the investment to convert the treatment sludge into energy was started.
INEVA, which uses the wastes that are harmful to the environment and which need to be disposed as a valuable energy source in its own technology, won the tender for Gaziantep Industrial Zone - Domestic and Industrial Treatment Sludge Disposal Energy Production Project. INEVA plans to complete 4 machine installations in 2018 and will thus eliminate 240 tons of sludge by thermal processing per day. 2.5 MW of electricity will be produced per hour within the scope of renewable energy from steam energy.
In his written statement, General Manager of INEVA Çevre Teknolojileri A.Ş. Onur Taş said that, “INEVA, of which the technology was developed by Turkish engineers, produces technology solutions that add value to waste by producing energy from sludge with fluidized bed combustion technology. It stands out as a solution partner of municipalities with organized industrial zones in this area.” Emphasizing that the designs of thermal disposal and energy recovery system were developed with R & D studies, he noted that they work with the vision of “Specialty dedicated to environment”. Indicating that disposal of treatment sludge is one of the biggest problems of our age, Taş said that, “The system that we developed as a result of R & D studies carried out with The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) between 2008 and 2009 and which we implemented without the need for drying process, is the first thermal disposal project that was put into operation with 100 percent local capital. Thanks to the system we use for the disposal of the treatment plant sludge, we perform the thermal disposal of the treatment plant sludge with high efficiency without pre-treatment. After ISU (Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality İzmit Water Works), we will now transform the sludge from the Domestic and Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant of Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone into electrical energy. Thanks to the facilities we will install, GAOSB will dispose of the sludge by incinerating without drying and will also obtain electrical energy”.
ELECTRICITY WILL ALSO BE PRODUCED
Onur Taş also said that, from the steam emitted while incinerating the sludge in “Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone – Domestic and Industrial Treatment Sludge Disposal Energy Production Project” to be made to Gaziantep, they will obtain an electrical energy sales revenue of approximately 9.5 million Turkish Liras annually.
FULLY DOMESTIC TECHNOLOGY
On the other hand, INEVA General Manager Onur Taş reminded that the foundations of INEVA Çevre Teknolojileri AŞ., which was established for localizing waste disposal facilities and eliminating foreign dependency and contributing to the national economy, was laid in 2004. Onur Taş, stating that the ‘Thermal Disposal’ technology, developed with TÜBİTAK, was the environmental project, which received the highest grant rate of the year and which was the first waste incineration project commissioned with a fully domestic capital, said that, “We have installed 6 facilities in the last 3 years. Since our first establishment, we have disposed of a total of 160 thousand tons of sludge. As INEVA, our goal is to continue to expand the use of our technology in determining the alternative uses of treatment sludge suitable for Turkey’s conditions as a raw material and an energy source and bring its economic benefits. Our company, aims to become the most preferred company in waste disposal technologies by increasing the number of facilities that produce “clean energy” rapidly in Turkey and abroad, while producing innovative solutions to the environmental problem.”
